Change is urgently needed in this world. What we have been doing isn’t working. The Earth is pissed. Politics are awry. There is a seething anger at the global inequality that has infected the human condition,. Improvisation is our only way forward.
That change is coming; it is emergent and urgent., which is sürgős in Hungarian.
Sürgős
is a new international ensemble featuring globally recognized improvisors coming together in live collaboration, beginning with a short tour of Europe this April!
Cox and Levin first played together with Cecil Taylor at the San Francisco Jazz Festival in the late 1990s. This will mark their first outing together. Levin and Akira Ando have worked together in several ensembles over the years. Jakub Švejnar and Christopher Cox have worked together with saxophonist Jason Robinson on his last European tour, and in the exploratory trio Sapien Paradox, which is a fusion of free jazz and electronic noise music.
The music will intense, not the kind of thing you can passively observe. Expect Ergent to unsettle the listener in all the best possible ways.
